But this is just the tip of the iceberg. Let’s delve deeper into the rumored features specifications and design changes that the iPhone 15 Pro Max may bring.
Release Date Speculation
Officially Apple iPhone 15 event is scheduled for September 12 with a presumed release date of September 22 adhering to the company usual timeline. However there is chatter about a potential delay in the iPhone 15 Pro Max release due to issues with its Sony made imaging sensor. In the worst case scenario the delay could extend into mid October.
While iPhone releases have typically been punctual the iPhone 14 Plus experienced a minor delay last year leading to reduced excitement.
Price Predictions
While it is tempting to expect the iPhone 15 series to follow the pricing structure of the iPhone 14 credible rumors suggest otherwise. Some sources claim that Apple may increase prices by up to $100 for the iPhone 15 Pro Max and its various storage versions. This potential price hike has been further supported by analysts.
| iPhone model | 128GB of storage | 256GB of storage | 512GB of storage | 1TB of storage |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| iPhone 14 Pro | $999 | $1099 | $1299 | $1499 |
| iPhone 14 Pro Max | $1099 | $1199 | $1399 | $1599 |
| iPhone 15 Pro | $999/$1099* | $1099/$1199* | $1299/$1399* | $1499/1599* |
| iPhone 15 Pro Max | $1099+ | $1199+ | $1399+ | $1599+ |
However it is worth noting that such rumors are commonplace before an iPhone launch and Apple often maintains consistent pricing from year to year.
Name Continuity
Despite significant improvements the iPhone 15 Pro Max is likely to retain its current name. Apple has utilized the “Ultra” suffix for premium products like the Apple Watch Ultra and Apple M1 Ultra chip but it seems reserved for something truly exceptional.
Camera Innovations
The iPhone 15 Pro Max is set to shine in the realm of camera technology. Unlike previous iterations it is expected to differ from the standard iPhone 15 Pro in terms of camera setup. Leaks suggest that it will feature a periscope camera offering up to 5 or 6X optical zoom a significant upgrade from the iPhone 14 Pro Max 3X optical zoom.
There are also hints of a telephoto camera with lossless optical zoom potentially making use of LG Innoteks advanced camera unit. Moreover changes in camera placement are anticipated further distinguishing the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
Leakers speculate that the device might incorporate a 1/1.14″ Sony IMX903 main camera sensor the largest ever on an iPhone promising enhanced imaging capabilities. However this rumor faces opposition with some expecting this feature in the iPhone 16 series.
Storage Configuration
There are no substantial rumors regarding changes to the storage options of the iPhone 15 Pro Max. It is likely to continue offering 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB versions catering to various storage needs.
iPhone 15 Pro Max Design
The iPhone 15 Pro Max design is expected to undergo significant changes. While subtle in size it is anticipated to be shorter narrower and slightly thicker than the iPhone 14 Pro Max. However these differences may not be immediately noticeable. Additionally it might feature super slim bezels potentially the thinnest in modern smartphones.
| iPhone 15 Pro Max | iPhone 14 Pro Max | Difference | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Height | 159.86 mm | 160.7 mm | -0.84 mm |
| Width | 76.73 mm | 77.6 mm | -0.87 mm |
| Depth | 8.25 mm | 7.85 mm | +0.4 mm |
Apple is also exploring the use of titanium instead of stainless steel for its exterior build offering a lighter yet equally robust material. Rumors of a single solid state capacitive volume rocker button replacing the traditional physical buttons have also emerged although recent reports suggest this change could be postponed until 2024.
The iconic mute switch might transform into a customizable Action Button similar to the one seen on the Apple Watch Ultra. Case leaks hint at potential shifts in button placement for both volume and power controls.
Furthermore the iPhone 15 Pro Max is poised to adopt a USB Type-C port in compliance with EU regulations though it may limit compatibility with non Apple USB-C cables. It will also support USB 3.2 speeds while the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus may be limited to USB 2.0.
Color Variations
Recent speculations suggest a color palette consisting of Space Black, Silver the new Titan Gray, and Deep Blue. The addition of Titan Gray will likely highlight the devices titanium frame while Deep Blue provides an enticing new option.
Display Details
Expect the iPhone 15 Pro Max to retain its 6.7-inch XDR ProMotion OLED HDR screen with a variable refresh rate of up to 120Hz. While resolution and screen sharpness may remain the same rumors indicate a brighter display potentially reaching 2,500 nits of maximum brightness surpassing the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max.
Dynamic Island punch hole technology introduced in the iPhone 14 Pro/Max is set to make a return. It may offer enhanced functionality possibly being showcased at Apple WWDC 23 conference.
Battery and Charging Improvements
The iPhone 15 Pro Max is likely to feature a larger battery potentially 4,852mAh a 12% increase from the iPhone 14 Pro Max. Coupled with the Apple A17 Bionic chipset this could result in significantly improved battery life potentially lasting up to two and a half to three days.
Charging may see a boost with 35W fast charging reducing charging times. MagSafe wireless charging will continue to be available with no major changes expected in wireless charging speeds.
Software Updates
The iPhone 15 Pro Max will run on iOS 17 announced at WWDC’23. It promises enhancements to core iOS apps and experiences including customizable Contact Posters streamlined Messages app with Live Stickers FaceTime voice (video?) effects and enhanced AR capabilities.
Compatibility with other Apple Devices
The iPhone 15 Pro Max is expected to support a seamless ecosystem compatible with the latest MacBook models the Apple Watch Ultra and the forthcoming Apple Glass augmented reality (AR) device.
